Review: The Last Wish of Sasha Cade

Hey guys! I’m super behind on reviews so I decided to do this for and ARC that I read in September?? October?? Anyway I should have done this review a long time ago.

REVIEW OF THE LAST WISH OF SASHA CADE BY CHEYANNE YOUNG

34802290 (1)The day Raquel has been dreading for months has finally arrived. Sasha, her best friend in the whole world — the best friend in the whole world — has died of cancer. Raquel can’t imagine life without her. She’s overwhelmed and brokenhearted. And then a letter from Sasha arrives. Has she somehow found a way to communicate from the afterlife? In fact, Sasha has planned an elaborate scavenger hunt for Raquel, and when she follows the instructions to return to Sasha’s grave, a mysterious stranger with striking eyes is waiting for her. There’s a secret attached to this boy who only Sasha—and now Raquel—knows. This boy, Elijah, might be just what Raquel needs to move on from her terrible loss. But can Raquel remain true to herself while also honoring her friend’s final wish?

The Last Wish of Sasha Cade 3🌟

This was one of my first e-arcs to receive, It came out during the autumn and i should have really done this review before. I enjoyed this book, it was cute. i have to say this is a book with great platonic friendship. What i found very interesting about this book was the plot and how most books about grief are mostly about handling with it but this one was so sweet.

DISLIKES:

I have to say though I have a few dislikes. First thing was the romance in this story, honestly it felt forced and honestly not needed. It was personally to clichee and I didn’t enjoy the whole “Bad Boy” and “Goody Too Shoes”. The other fact was that I sometimes felt that the author “romanticized” Sasha death. It was almost like the “love relationship” (I don’t want to spoil) fixed everything, again this was for some moments in the book not everything.

CHARACTERS:

Honestly my favourite character was Sasha you didn’t really meet her personally but by everything  she was doing and what she was portraying you kinda felt like you knew her. I didn’t like Raquel much but that’s just a personal opinion

Well that concluded my review also sorry it’s so short, also ive been inactive for a long time because I had a lot of things going on and personally couldn’t keep up with the pressure that I would put on myself but I’m slowly coming back.

Also thankyou so much to NetGalley and KCP Loft/Kids Can Press for sending me a e-copy.

Blogoween #7 (Sacrifice)

Hey Guys I’m back from the dead…for my 8th blogoween prompt. I’m kinda falling behind so I’ll be posting more from now on. Anyways, today’s prompt is “sacrifice”which involves having to list a few characters that would die first in a horror film.

1. Ben from What If Its Us – by Becky Alberrtalli and Adam Silvera

I love Ben but I don’t think he would make it that far in a horror movie, I feel like he would come up with a great plan but make a mistake and die.

2. Lara Jean from To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han

I adore my girl Lara but let’s be real, she would totally get killed first. I mean there is a small possibility that she could survive but she would most probably die first.

3.  Alaina Starkov from Shadow and Bone -by Leigh Bardugo

Ok, so if you’ve read the books you know that she is super powerful and all. But I think she’s kinda annoying , personally.  Anyways, I don’t think she could survive long in a horror movie cause she can be pretty defenceless without her magical ability.

Well those are 3 characters that I think wouldn’t survive in a horror movie.

Which character do you think wouldn’t survive a horror movie?

Review: What If Its Us

Hey guys so today im gonna be doing a review of what if its us by  Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera. I was giving an e-ARC of this book on Edelweiss.

WHAT IF ITS US-by BECKY ALBERTALLI and ADAM SILVERA

download (14).jpeg

Before I get into it, I just wanted to talk a little bit about the authors. I read They Both Die In the End last year and loved it (4/5). The only reason i didnt give it 5/5 was because there were two many POVs and it dragged on abit. but other than that I love his writing. I read Simon vrs The Homo Sapiens Agenda and Leah on the offbeat. earlier this year and LOVED them Simon-(5/5) and Leah-(4/5) I fell in love  with becky’s writing and all her HP refences. So yeah before I get off topic, This was of my most anticipated releases because I love both authors.

What If Its Us – 4🌟

This book was super adorable. Its everything you expect it to be. Knowing Adam Silvera I was super scared that it would crush my heart in am million pieces, but it only shattered in half so it’s not that bad. I loved all the Harry Potter refencees ad DEH and Hamilton references. (I get so excited when books have references lol)

I loved the romance between Ben and Arthur (two main protagonist).  I felt that Adam’s and Becky’s writing styles just worked so well together. Also can we talked about that DIVERSITY. I love when books include LGBTQ+ or DIVERSITY (which this book has). Arthur was jewish and had ADHD, and Ben was Puerto Rican and also was not-rich. Sometimes I have noticed that in books everyone is high-middle class (!!THIS IS NOT EVERY BOOK, JUST A FEW THAT I HAVE NOTICED) and its fine cause authors write what they know , but I was very happy see that. In summary this book was super cute.

DISLIKES: I did give this book a 4/5🌟 so I’m just gonna say why.

I felt that this book was a bit predictable. So yes it was a love story but I think that from the begging you could already tell how it ended. It did you keep always on your toes and didn’t necessarily have moments that it dragged on. But if you’re a reader that doesn’t like predictable books than this one is a bit but its still awesome.

I didn’t like the ending. Ok so yes Adam Silvera co-wrote this book so there is no happy ending. But I felt that the ending was heart-breaking but in a good way. but then the epilogue ruined it….I felt that the ending was like “the end of an era” type ending and the epilogue just like started a new era even though there isn’t a 2nd book. Anyway I’m very bad at explaining it so just read it and you’ll hopefully get what I’m saying.

CHARACTERS: I’m just gonna talk about the characters real quick

I love arthur. Arthur is my precious no-chill cinnamon roll. I love how he is obseesed with Hamilton and how nerdy he is. He was so real-like, lol im horrible at this. Honestly he just reminds me so much of me. I have zero chill and he was just so adorable.

Ben: He wasn’t my fav but still I love how the they both nerds. Ill leave it to that cause I don’t want too spoil.

I also really liked Ben friends they were hilarious.

Well that concludes my review and thank you for sticking with me. I think in the end I give it a 4.5🌟

Top Four Tuesday

Hey guys today I’m gonna be talking about book to movie adaptations. I have to say I havent seen a lot of them but I’m gonna try my best.

  1. Love Simon — Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli

download (10)

I LOVED this movie. I think this is a great example of an amazing book to movie adaptation. They did change a few things which bothered me a bit. But still you have to cut some things when you make a movie.

*SPOILERS*

When I read the book I was 100% percent sure that Leah never liked Simon. But I saw the movie and was immediately confused. I then read Leah On the Offbeat and it might hint that she did like him. Anyway I’m really confuse if in anyone  knows what happened there please let me know in the comments.

*OVER*

Anyway all in all I loved the movie. It even had some P!ATD and Harry Potter refences in there which I loved.

2. To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han

download (11)

I was very excited for this movie. I watched it once and didn’t like it, I then re-watched it and fell in love. I have to say I enjoyed the book way more. I felt the book was very good it wasnt just another typical girl falls in love story. It still was, but there were all the other themes like coming of age and how she managed without a mother. Which the movie tried to show but in the end it very centered around the love story which makes sense cause in the end that’s what it’s about. I still loved it

3. Harry Potter (1-7) by J.K Rowling

download (12)

I could’t do this without mentioning Harry Potter. Technically it should be first or second but whatever, I love the Harry Potter movies. I think they really try to include everything and I loved that. I did not like that they made characters like Ginny very basic but they tried their best. My favourite movie has to be the 4th one. I don’t know why, but  yeah I think this one is pretty self explanatory.

4. The Book Theif by Markus Zusak

download (13)

I LOVE THIS BOOK. This book got me into reading. I think its amazing and If you havent read it (WELL… READ ITT!). I saw the movie a while ago but by what I remember I really liked it. It captured the nostalgia and sadness of this story. I don’t want to say more because of spoilers but I was left in tears.

And that completes Top Four Tuesday. I hope you liked my selection. There are many other good book to movie adaptations. and as I said I havent read/watched them all. What is your favourite book to movie adoption?

Audiobooks

Audiobooks do you like them yes? or no?

Personally yes I love audiobooks , I think that they are a great way to get into more books that you don’t own or just don’t feel like physically reading . Some people don’t like audiobooks because of the  narration or because of the price. True these are all valid points but for the narrators…yes there are bad narrators. But most of them are pretty good but some are 100% for sure  better than others.

For the price issue I actually think this is a big problem because not every library has audiobooks. You can either get them though your local library with an app called Overdrive, If you just want to try audiobooks you can always get free trials with Audible, Scribd and I think Ibooks. I’ve tried all of these options and I think Scribd is  the best for me, It offers free ebooks and free audiobooks for only 11$ a month. Which is pretty cheap for audiobooks.

How did I get into Audiobooks?

Thats actually a funny story cause my friend had been listening to audiobooks for the longest of time but I never really tought about it myself until 2 years later when I started Bookstagram and I saw all these people listening to audiobooks and it gave me the idea to start listening to them. So I asked around and found a few apps and now I listen to audiobooks almost every day.

BEST AUDIOBOOKS

  1. Harry Potter

HarryImage result for harry potter audiobooky Potter is actually the first audiobook I ever listened too. I hadn’t read the series in a looonggg time and I didn’t own the books so I came up with this.

The narrator for this book is amazing he expresses all the characters beautify really recommend this audiobook. 5/5

2.  Every Heart a Doorway by Seanan McGuire

download (7)

I really liked this book. I had just seen it in one of my favourite booktubers video recommending it, and I saw it so like why not? Well I loved it also it had great LGBTQ+ representation which is always a bonus

5/5 Love the narration totally recommend.

3. The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

download (6)

I’m currently reading this book and I’m loving the audiobook. I was getting a bit bored with the book so I tried this and loved it.

It’s the same narrator as HP so just check out his stuff (Jim Dale). I love the flair of magic in the story and the whimsical-ness. 5/5

4. The Raven Boys by Maggie Steifvater

download (8)

I Love this series I find its so cute but love the paranormal theme going on. I only read this book. I have to read the rest of the series but still love it.

Many people have different opinions on this audiobook. Cause its spoken with a southern accent wich I love cause its real and that’s wear it takes place. At first I didn’t really like it but In in the end I loved this audiobook. 4/5

Well thats my opinion on audiobooks what’s yours?

TOP FOUR BOOKS THAT MADE ME CRY

Todays post is all about emotional books.

Do you cry in books??

YES. I used to never cry but then I started reading all these really sad books and now I’ll cry 50% of time. Sometimes I cry not necessarily in sad books but joyful ones. Anyway today for Top 5 Tuesday I’m gonna tell you guys the top five books that made me cry.

  1. The Hate You Give by Angie Thomas

Related imageBooksandbabbles

This book made me cry soooo much. If you haven’t read this book….READ IT. Its tells an amazing story about racism, racial profiling, criminal injustice, and just what society has become. So in summary just GO BUY IT! no but seriously…go buy it. It’s actually is turning into a movie and it comes out Oct.19 (I’m pretty excited). Anyway this book was so emotional and it just shows everything she had to go through, I can’t say more (for spoilers) but I was crying a lot while reading this.

2. Eliza and her monsters by Francesca ZappiaImage result for eliza and her monsters

I love this book. Francesca Zappia is one of my all time favourite authors and I love her books. I really recommend her. This story is about Eliza who has anxiety and writes a very popular web comic called Monstrous Sea but nobody knows that she writes them and much prefers the online world. Until one day a guy called Wallace comes to her school and turns out to be a fanfiction writer for her comic. They slowly become friends and she breaks out of her shell until one day her secret is shared with the world and everything begins to fall apart. This story is centered around anxiety and how she deals with it. I have anxiety and this book really came to me when I needed it. I was left in tears at the end because I could  really relate to what she was feeling.  The ending is not particularly sad but I was crying a lot while reading it.

3. Letters to the Lost by Brigid Kemmerer

Related image                -paperfury

I’m actually currently reading this book and i love it. It’s about two teens who lost someone dear to them start writing letters. It all happens when Juliette (one of the main protagonist) writes a letter to her dead mom, Declan finds it, reads it and responds. They then star talking to each other through letters and email. I’m not done the book so I can’t say more but it’s a very sad book (in my opinion) and amazingly written. I cried cause you can feel the grief the two of them are carrying and if you’ve ever lost a family member then you can relate

4. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by JK Rowling

I’m sure a lot of you have read Harry Potter and if you haven’t well that’s okay there is still time. but this book is incredible sad.

*SPOLIER WARNING FOR HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS*

This book was so sad I cried so much. My favourite characters in the whole Harry POtter series where the weasly twins and then fred diedddd!!!! I was so sad. Also Dolby died which was just cruel (#Dobbywillalwaysbeafreeelf), then Lupin deid, so did Tonks 😭😭 and Moody. UGH ITS JUST SO SADDDDD 😭😭

*SPOILERS OVER*

SO yeah that is one of the saddest books every so many good characters that passed away.

SO those wear my top 4 saddest books. THere are others and they are not in order but I hope you liked my post. What is the saddest book you have ever read?? Let me know in the comments.
